The Science Of Success: Brand New Technical Workshop At Vitafoods Asia

News From : DagangHalal.com (20 Aug 2013)

Vitafoods Asia, 4-5 September 2013, AsiaWorld-Expo, Hong Kong

Scientific innovation is the lifeblood of the nutraceuticals industry but the journey from ingredient selection to marketing communication can be an overwhelming prospect for manufacturers. In Asia, the bioactives market is brimming with opportunity, as concerns over the health problems associated with issues such as rising obesity rates and ageing populations compel consumers to re-think the way they eat.

It’s for this reason that Vitafoods Asia launches a new intensive technical workshop to unearth the factors fuelling rising demand for nutraceuticals in Asia, as well as present the latest scientific developments that can be leveraged to achieve success. The one and a half day workshop, developed in association with Smart Short Courses, brings together specialists from across the globe to help formulators and R&D professionals get to grips with translating science into products that appeal to consumers.

Gut, brain, heart and eye health are all growth areas with the potential to be hugely lucrative for manufacturers. In the Vitafoods Asia Workshop, a series of sessions investigate the science behind ingredients such as omega-3s and probiotics to illuminate how their health benefits align with key consumer health concerns. Going further in depth, presentations on formulation criteria, microencapsulation and purification give attendees the chance to learn more about the technical skills required to create foods and beverages with marketable health benefits.

Dr. Sefa Koseoglu, President at Bioactives World and Workshop organiser, said: “Asia has become the hub for the production of the majority of bioactive ingredients sold worldwide. This programme provides a forum for ingredient manufacturers from Asia and experts from North America, Europe and South East Asia to come together and discuss critical issues in the formulation and development of functional food products for local and export markets.”

Chris Lee, Portfolio Director, Vitafoods Asia added: “Gaining practical advice on formulation in the context of consumer behaviour is crucial to successful new product development. The Vitafoods Asia Workshop is an exciting addition for 2013 designed to offer expert advice on where opportunities lie, as well as technical considerations when creating functional foods and beverages.”

The line-up includes sessions led by experts from associations and companies including Intertek Cantox, China, Morishita Jintan Co, Bioactives World, BIOTAILOR, ID&A and Deerland Enzymes.
