Brazilian food and beverage exporters will present products and services which can help meet the growing demands of the Gulf’s 36 million inhabitants, during Brasil Trade Middle East 2010, a multi-industry exposition running from May 9 to 11, 2010 at the Intercontinental Hotel in Dubai Festival City.

Brazil is one of the top food and beverage partners of the Gulf, which was recently named as the world’s biggest food importer by the World Trade Organization.

The Gulf imports more than 90% of its food needs, with the UAE alone spending almost $7bn annually on food. Brazilian food and beverage products are widely patronized among Arab markets, especially since all related Brazil exports are certified by Cibal Halal, the Brazilian Islamic Centre for Halal Food Stuff Association. Brazil is currently the largest exporter of coffee, beef and poultry, fruit juice, sugar and sugar cane ethanol in the world. Agribusiness exports of the largest country in South America are expected to grow at an annual average rate of 1.3% until 2030, thus offering vast partnership potentials with Middle Eastern countries.

“As one of the world’s top food and beverage exporters, Brazil is a vital partner for fulfilling the Arab World’s food security goals. Its appeal is heightened by its ability to deliver products that comply with strict Islamic standards. This year’s edition of Brasil Trade Middle East will provide excellent insights on the top food and beverage offerings of the country while also highlighting opportunities in other growth sectors. Moreover, it establishes a highly engaging business-to-business platform that promises to strengthen ties between the business communities of Brazil and the Gulf,” said Alessandro Teixeira, President of Apex-Brasil, Organiser of Brasil Trade Middle East 2010.

Aside from food and beverage products, the more than 30 Brazilian exporters representing over 100 leading Brazilian producers and manufacturers will showcase investment and partnership prospects in construction and construction materials, furniture and decoration, and auto parts. Special presentations will be delivered for Brazilian exporters and for hosted buyers, while one-on-one meetings will also be held with hosted buyers and local UAE buyers. A hosted buyer’s program will be organized for major importers from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon.
