The House of Commons will offer halal and kosher meals in the parliamentary cafeteria from 30 March this year, according the request of Jewish and Muslim MPs and staff, reports “The Jewish Chronicle” (JC) and “The National “.

The decision goes back to the initiative of Jewish Labour MP Charlotte Nicols and Muslim Labour MP Zarah Sultana. According to The National, the House of Commons currently has 19 Muslim MPs.

The new offer will be run on a trial basis for three months. If there is sufficient demand, the hot meals and sandwiches will always be offered.
