News From : DagangHalal.com (17 Oct 2011)

KUALA LUMPUR – TM Info-Media Sdn Bhd (TMIM), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Telekom Malaysia Bhd, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Islamic Development Deparment Malaysia (JAKIM) for the development of a halal portal.

Under the collaboration, TMIM which also publishes the Yellow Pages directory is responsible for developing and maintaining the halal portal while JAKIM provides the list of companies that have been granted halal certificates.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom witnessed the signing ceremony here.

In a speech, TMIM Chairman Datuk Bazlan Osman said the initiative was a testament to TMIM’s commitment to provide the best directory services to consumers, not only to Malaysians but also to Muslim tourists to Malaysia, by furnishing the halal-certified lists.

The halal portal, available at www.halalpages.com.my, is an online portal which provides consumers with lists of products and services that have been granted halal certificates and endorsed by JAKIM.

Only halal-certified companies are allowed to place their halal-certified products in the portal, which is updated fortnightly.

In the future, the halal directory would include data of halal certificates from all states in Malaysia, JAKIM Director-General Datuk Othman Mustapha said.
