THAIFEX-World of Food Asia, the leading trade platform for the food and beverage industry in South East Asia will be held from 25 to 29 May 2011 at Impact Exhibition Center in Bangkok, Thailand. Over 1,000 exhibitors are expected to attend the trade fair this year, signaling renewed confidence in Thailand as the meeting place for global players of the food and beverage industry.
The trade fair covers all areas of food production from food & beverage products to food catering & hospitality services to food technology to retail & franchise. More than 22,000 trade visitors from around the world are expected to attend Southeast Asia’s largest food and beverage trade show this year.
Thailand is not only home to a productive agricultural sector but also one of the world’s largest and most advanced producers and exporters of processed food products. Thailand has once again confirmed its amazing capacity to recover rapidly from the recent crisis which took place last year. This has led to a positive influence on the success of THAIFEX-World of Food Asia in terms of the quantity and quality of exhibitors.
Mr. Noel Shield, CEO of the Brunei Halal Brand commented during his last visit, “THAIFEX-World of Food Asia is the biggest and most important international food and beverage trade fair in Asia. It is also the best as it attracts and connects traders, distributors, traders and the average consumer in one place without compromising quality.”
The consolidation of strengths and expertise between the trade fair’s three coorganizers has brought about the continued success of this trade fair. Since it was first organized between Koelnmesse, Thai Chamber of Commerce and the Department of Export Promotion in 2004, THAIFEX-World of Food Asia has grown by over 41% in terms of exhibitor numbers between 2004 and 2011. It is now recognized by the global food and beverage industry as a key trade event in Southeast Asia.
Record Breaking Number of Country Group Participation
As Thailand restores its credence, growing exhibitor confidence is evident in the positive representation of 20 country and regional pavilions from Brunei, Cambodia, China, Europe, Indonesia, Japan, Jordan, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea (Gangwon-do, Geumsan, Jeollanam-do and Seoul counties), Taiwan, Turkey, The Netherlands and USA.
Indonesia will participate in a country pavilion for the first time. The South Korean presence has more than doubled by 100% from 2010 with three new regional groups participating this year, making this the largest growth in a country group since the inception of this trade fair. Korea is represented by the biggest contingent of representatives from the Global Trade Expert Agency Association, Korea Agro-Fisheries Trade Cooperation, Geumsan Insam Cooperative Association. Gwangju-Jeonnam Branch Office aT Corp and Korea International Trade Association (KITA).
The presence of these pavilions reinforces THAIFEX-World of Food Asia as the first choice for the food and beverage trade fair in Southeast Asia and a platform for the globalisation of trade in Asia.
Strengthened Commitment to Boost the Foodservice Sector
Thailand’s Chef Competition returns for the second year in addition to the industry seminars which are organized annually within the trade fairgrounds. This competition is designed to provide a boost to the food service and hospitality sector in Thailand.
Chef Jamnong Nirungsan, President of the Thai Chefs Association of Thailand commented at the competition last year, “The Thailand Chefs Competition has received great support from THAIFEX-World of Food Asia. This is the future for young chefs as it provides an excellent platform to showcase new talent at a trade fair of international standards.”
Besides providing a platform to showcase the best of local culinary expertise, the competition provides an additional avenue for exhibitors to present their products. Contestants are required to incorporate sponsored products into their recipes for the applicable categories. Approximately 250 contestants from hotels, restaurants and hospitality institutions in Thailand and the rest of the world are expected to participate this year.
Special Focus at World of Halal Conference
World of Halal returns this year to complement THAIFEX-World of Food Asia with a separate zone for halal product suppliers and manufacturers. With the rapid expansion of the halal market, this trade fair continues to provide a business platform and networking opportunities in the region and around the world in line with the growing interest in halal products from the non-Muslim community.
World of Halal covers various aspects of the industry including food & beverage, logistics and food technology & catering. Around 100 halal product suppliers and manufacturers will be showcasing their latest products and technology at the combined fairs of World of Halal and THAIFEX-World of Food Asia 2011.
In addition to the trade fair, the World of Halal conference will take on a more focused approach this year in the areas of marketing halal needs around Asia, Europe and the Middle East. The conference will also cover areas pertaining to regulatory framework of respective Halal markets, marketing strategies, branding and useful tools relevant toNHalal businesses with specially tailored keynote addresses from key industry players from the Halal market in Asia. Organized by Koelnmesse Pte Ltd, the conference aims to help participants with little or no knowledge in the halal market to deepen their understanding as well as the opportunity to network with other like-minded professionals.
THAIFEX-World of Food Asia is organized annually by Koelnmesse Pte Ltd, Department of Promotion Thailand and Thai Chamber of Commerce.
