The Prime Minister of Thailand Abhisit Vejjajiva, who is scheduled to visit Qatar from November 24-26, will sign a memorandum of understanding to establish a joint business council (JBC) with Qatar, an embassy source said yesterday.

He will also sign a legal framework agreement between Siam Cement Group (SCG), Thailand and Qatar Petroleum International for LPG joint venture in Vietnam.

After signing the agreements, activities of the JBC will be launched, while Thai-Qatar business community will exchange visits to further consolidate the agreements.

During his visit, PM Vejjajiva is expected to offer more strategic partnership opportunities to Qatari government on the platform of Asean +3 (China, Japan and Korea) to form a linkage between the country and the GCC region.

He will elaborate potential partnership on food security, halal and agro industry, medical tourism, construction and financial products.

As Asean chairman recently, Thai premier has presented his vision during the G20 and APEC summits to revive world recession since assumption of his premiership last year.
