LAHORE, Nov.1, 2010 (News Agencies)– . After a series of meetings and negotiations Pakistan’s Punjab province has finally took the first step towards exporting its halal products.
Chief Minister Shahbaz Shareef announced last week that for the first time in the history of the country, Punjab had sent samples of 300 kg halal meat to Malaysia, which was accepted and was a big achievement.
He said that now the first consignment of 25 tonne meat would be sent and he would himself receive this consignment by going to Kuala Lumpur. He said that the vast opportunities of the development of agriculture sector also existed and by exporting agri-products to the Middle East and other countries, we can strengthen the economy of the country.
He said despite the best opportunities of livestock, the country has failed to export halal meat whereas India is earning huge foreign exchange by exporting Halal meat to Malaysia and other countries. He said that Pakistan was the fourth largest milk producing country but the ratio of milk processing was only 3 to 4 percent.
