KUALA LUMPUR, June 9 (Bernama) — International Trade and Industry Ministry expects Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) 2010 to generate RM250 million in immediate sales and potential sales of more than RM3 billion.
Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said 32 countries have confirmed their participation in MIHAS 2010 to be held at Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) Exhibition and Convention Centre from June 23 to 27.
He said 169 foreign and 334 local companies have also confirmed participation.
“MIHAS 2010 will see newcomers from Albania, Belgium, Gambia, Hong Kong and Italy,” he told a media briefing on latest updates on the five-day event.
Mustapa said 381 foreign companies from 54 countries will be engaged in business match-making held in conjunction with the event.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak will open the event, he added.
MIHAS 2010 is organised by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) with the sole aim of facilitating sourcing and trading of quality halal consumables, product and services globally.
It embraces the halal concept in all its dimensions from pharmaceuticals and herbal products, cosmetics and healthcare to Islamic investment, banking and takaful insurance.
