PETALING JAYA, March 20 (Bernama) — Frozen foods producer Perusahaan Saudi Sdn Bhd today clarified that a printing error in the halal logo of its 1kg pack french fries was the cause of confusion among buyers of the product.
Its chief executive officer Mohd Ariffin Don, in a press conference here today, reassured consumers that the product was indeed halal as the halal certificate for it was issued by the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) itself.
He said the problem was detected and remedial action taken.
He also said a special committee had been set up to investigate how the problem could have happened to ensure it did not recur.
On March 11, a consumer had complained about the halal logo on the product to the Malaysian Muslim Consumers Association.
