Bandar Seri Begawan – Brunei’s BIMP-EAGA Business Council (BEBC) members were recently in Davao, Philippines to attend the board of director’s meeting and the handover of BIMP-EAGA Business Council (BEBC) chairmanship.
It was also at the BIMP-EAGA senior officials special meeting attended by the national secretariats, senior officials of BIMP-EAGA countries and development partners German Technical Corporation and Asian Development Bank.
During the meetings, ADB agreed to extend technical assistance to enhance BEBC’s existing website by linking it to the existing BIMP-EAGA Facilitation Centre (BIMP-FC) in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
It was agreed that the monitoring task force committee is set-up to monitor the progress of the flagship projects already tabulated in the BIMP-EAGA road map 2006-2010.
Brunei BEBC would further promote the private sector initiative and activities towards export oriented EAGA products in the world market place either through trade fairs, business networkings and road-shows or through prominent posting in the Internet for greater exposure via virtual e-commerce transactions.
More and more infrastructure readiness for business in the BIMPEAGA were being implemented. Land, sea and air-linkages and cross border energy sharing were highlighted during the meeting.
The niche market of BIMP-EAGA halal brand topped the agenda especially the high value of halal certifications in tandem with the world health requirements in the poultry businesses.
