Thailand’s DITP has signed a memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Alibaba Group and Tradeindia.com (managed by Infocom Network Ltd.) on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at THAIFEX – World of Food Asia 2013, Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani. The MOU would benefit Thai exporters ,especially SMEs, as it brings them closer to Chinese and Indian buyers, thus help facilitate and reduce cost of exports as Thai manufacturers could distribute their products globally through channels such as E-marketing and Supply Chain/Sourcing Solution Online.
Commenting on the MOU, Mrs. Srirat Rastapana, DITP director-general, Ministry of Commerce, said “This MOU has been agreed upon by three websites: Thaitrade.com, Alibaba.com and Tradeindia.com; to help stirring awareness of Thaitrade.com among Chinese and Indian businesspersons who look for a quality and reliable source of supplies. Meanwhile, Thai entrepreneurs can obtain a business matchmaking with sellers and buyers from both countries who could provide raw materials and factors of production especially technology in return. The three sites has exchanged each other’s banners and display them on their respective homepages so that current audience of each site can get an access to information of their partners. Moreover, all three organizations have agreed to organize business matching activities both online and offline, from niche to general products.”
Alibaba.com is the leading global e-commerce wholesale platform that covers over 40 industries, 5,900 product categories with 79.7 million registered users from more than 240 countries worldwide.
Tradeindia.com has currently reached a database of 2.5 million registered users. The site receives an average of 20.5 million hits and 30 million pageviews per month from 200 countries around the world. All operations of tradeindia.com are handled by a network of over 1,200 experienced staffs from the headquarters in New Delhi and through 35 branch offices spread across all major business hubs of the country.
“This year, Thailand’s economy continues to expand quite rapidly and already we can witness the slow recovery of our import and export businesses for both products and services. This is a good sign for Thai entrepreneurs to start optimizing their business by using e-commerce as it offers immediate access to up-to-date information at any time and more importantly it can also served as a platform for traders to network together to form a partnership that could generate substantial businesses. DITP has provided Thai buyers and sellers with new channels to interact with other businesspersons including Alibaba.com and Tradeindia.com, the largest B2B e-commerce marketplace with million users from all over the world. This portal does not only help promote trades, but it also leads Thai manufacturers to source of materials, factors of production and innovative technology.”
“DITP has been working hard to develop and promote Thaitrade.com to become Thailand’s leading central e-commerce marketplace. At present, the site has been growing in popularity among Thai entrepreneurs and international buyers.
