MIRI, Dec 5 (Bernama) — The Sarawak Agricultural Modernisation Ministry is formulating the state’s agricultural policy for implementation during the 10th and 11th Malaysia Plan (10MP and 11MP) periods, said its minister, Tan Sri Alfred Jabu, here on Saturday.
He said the agricultural policy, among other things, would include the contributions from the agricultural sector in the development of the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (Score) and the Halal Hub in the state.
Speaking at the opening of the mini horticultural and agro-tourism exposition (Mini MAHA) at the state level, here, he said the policy would also encompass the planning of the agricultural industry at 10 Rural Growth Centres and five areas for the agropolitan programme.
The policy would also intensify research and development efforts in the fields of animal husbandry and producing the best agricultural seedlings in the state, he said.
Jabu, who is also Sarawak’s Deputy Chief Minister, said the policy would also take into account the role of the state in contributing to the National Food Supply Security Policy.
