A Malaysian startup has launched a web browser for Muslims. The browser filters out inappropriate content, such as gambling.

Salam Web, a mobile and desktop browser, aims to provide users with a Muslim-friendly web experience. Currently, the service is mainly used in Malaysia and Indonesia, reports Bloomberg. The goal of the startup from Malaysia is to reach 10 percent of the 1.8 billion Muslims worldwide.

“We want to make the Internet a better place,” said Hasni Zarina Mohamed Khan, managing director of Salam Web, to the financial service. “We know that the Internet has good and bad sides. The browser filters out content such as gambling or pornography. The browser also displays the prayer times and prayer direction.
