PAS Government Thanks Federal Government For Setting Up Halal Park

KOTA BAHARU, Nov 8 (Bernama) — The Kelantan PAS government has thanked the federal government for fully sponsoring the setting up of a halal industrial park in Pasir Mas at a cost of RM63.16 million.

State Entrepreneur Development, Trade and Community Development Committee chairman Datuk Anuar Tan Abdullah said the halal park on a 43.4ha site in Mukim Apam, Pasir Mas would be jointly developed by the Kelantan State Economic Development Corporation and the East Coast Economic Region Development Corporation.

“The state government is very thankful to the federal government for fully sponsoring the building of this halal park.

“The project construction will begin in early 2011 and the halal park expected to be operational in 2013,” he said in reply to a question from Datuk Abdul Aziz Derashid (BN-Kuala Balah) at the state assembly sitting, here, Monday.

Meanwhile, state Islamic Development, Education and Propagation Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah said the e-nikah (e-marry) card system introduced in 2007 had contributed to the state’s economy.

He said to date, the government had collected more than RM1 million annually from the e-nikah cards compared to before the system was introduced.

“From 2008 until now, 97,262 e-nikah cards have been issued in the state.

“The collection from 2008 to 2009 was around RM3.3 compared to RM2 million in 2006-2007 before the card was introduced,” he said in his reply to Dr Nik Mazian Nik Mohamed (PAS-Gaal).
