KAULA LUMPUR: Halal Development Project (HDP) of Pakistan and International Halal Integrity Alliance Ltd (IHI) of Malaysia on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for forging bilateral ties in the halal food sector.
The signing ceremony which was held here was also attended by the High Commissioner for Pakistan, Lt Gen (Retd) Tahir Mahmud Qazi and Wajihullah Kundi, Commercial Counselor and leading businessmen of both countries.
Asad Sajjad, Chief Executive Officer of Halal Development Project while highlighting the salient features said that according to the MoU, the International Halal Integrity Alliance Ltd (IHI) of Malaysia will organise halal compliance training workshops in Pakistan and Malaysia for the Pakistani Industrialists, businessmen, and work force.
Sajjad said that as per the MoU, the IHI will also assist in establishing a Halal Standards Board and Halal Accreditation Body in Pakistan besides coordinating with Pakistan to set up halal products’ testing laboratories, and provide referrals of key experts in setting up a halal science base in Pakistan.
It will also help exchange all relevant information on halal food products.
The High Commissioner commenting on the MoU said that if properly implemented by both parties, it will certainty help in promoting halal business in Pakistan by helping relevant agencies set-up a halal sector in the country.
