Malaysia Halal Industry Corporation Being May Forge Cooperation In Development Of Halal Hub

KARACHI, Sept 8 (APP) – The Livestock & Dairy Development Department of Punjab Government has invited Senior Management of the Malaysia’s Halal Industry Development Corporation (HDC) to visit Pakistan with the objective to forge cooperation between the two countries in the growing business of Halal products around the world.

In a letter addressed to the Commercial Counselor for Pakistan High Commission in Malaysia, Wajiulah Kundi, Secretary, Livestock and Dairy Development Department of Punjab, Pakistan extended an invitation to a High level delegation of Halal Development Corporation (HDC) of Malaysia to visit Pakistan to see the world class Halal paraphernalia being setup in Pakistan and to forge cooperation between the two countries to adopt a mutually beneficial joint strategy to capture Halal food market estimated at US$1.3 trillion, and is expected to achieve double-digit growth, every five years due to rising prosperity among the Muslim countries.

While commenting on the invitation, the High Commissioner for Pakistan in Malaysia, Lt. Gen (Rtd) Tahir Mahmud Qazi said that meeting of two departments in Pakistan would provide them a unique opportunities to evaluate each other strengths and to evolve a common strategy to benefit from growing market of Halal products around the world.

The High Commissioner said that Malaysian expertise in Halal food technology and Halal certification authority coupled with Pakistan’s raw material like meat, milk, poultry, and food grain can get a bigger share in the international market. The government of Pakistan has already announced a 50 per cent subsidy in order to enable businessmen and producers to explore the Halal market which offers a huge potential to Pakistani products, he added.

HDC of Malaysia was established on 18 September, 2006 to co-ordinate the overall development of the Halal industry with its main focus to  develop Halal standards, audit and certification, capacity building for Halal products and services as well as to promote and facilitate growth and participation of Malaysian companies in the global Halal market.

The company’s key primary focus is to unify the Malaysia’s  Halal industry players to form the basis of a global halal community. This is aimed at facilitating the growth and participation of Malaysian businesses into the global Halal market, by promoting best Halal practices and the development of Halal standards for the world.
