LIVESTOCK ASIA 2015 OPENS AS THE REGION’S LIVESTOCK INDUSTRY GEARS TOWARDS INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIVENESS

Kuala Lumpur, September 21, 2015 – Organised by UBM Asia, LIVESTOCK ASIA 2015 opens its doors hosting over 300 exhibitors representing 32 countries showcasing the latest technologies and supplies for feed and livestock production. The opening ceremony which took place on 21 September at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre was graced with the presence ofYB. Dato’Sri Ahmad Shabery Cheek, Minister of Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry Malaysia, as the show was announced officially open for trade professionals. The winners for the 8th Malaysian Livestock Industry Awards were also announced during the ceremony. The three-day event which ‘Will run until 23 September includes the exhibition, technical seminars. co-located conferences, and a dedicated ‘ASEAN Product Registration Seminar’offering participants invaluable insights in to regulations for livestock and livestock product registration across ASEAN countries including Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam and Thai land. The general theme of the event this year’s edition of LIVESTCOK ASIA is Feeding the ASEAN Economic Community’s Future’.The event is supported by The Federation of Livestock Farmers’Associations of Malaysia (FLFAM), the World Poultry Science Association (WPSA), World Veterinary Poultry Association (WVPA) and Veterinary Association of Malaysia.
Another key feature at LIVESTOCK ASIA this year will be the Asia Meatec Conference which will cover topics such as World Perspective Towards Meat Industry, Trends in Southeast Asia’s Poultry Meat Industry, and Adoption of Food Safety Measures and Halal Perspective. Professor Dr. Abdul Salam Babji frm Uninversiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Gordan Butland from G&S Agri Consultants Co. Ltd, and many other prominent industry elites from the region will be speaking at the conference.

“The pressing industry topic that will be addressed at LIVESTOCK ASIA 2015 will be that of the global readiness of the livestock industry in the ASEAN region as the race towards establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) is on. The enhancement of competitiveness of food, agricultural and livestock products m international markets, and the empowerment of farmers through the promotion of agricultural cooperatives has become the regions priority as the livestock industry prepares to compete on a global level. LIVESTOCK ASIA 2015 will provide farmers with the right platform to better understand the necessary steps required to be part of AEC’s overall goal,” said YBhg. Tan Sri Dato’Dr. Ahmad Mustaffa Babjee, Chairman, UBM Malaysia.
Also taking place at the event is the 2nd World Veterinary Poultry Association and world Poultry Science Association (WVPA – WPSA) Scientific Conference, Biomin Seminar, and a Broiler Technical Seminar featuring regional and international experts sharing their knowledge on production of safe and quality animal products through improving animal health and better control and eradication of transboundary animal diseases particularly those of zoonotic nature, which threaten the public health. Show floor activities include the World Eggs Day co-organised with the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) Malaysia. Also running alongside the exhibition will be two other industry-relevant events Asia Meatec Expo & Forum, and the inaugural Halal Ingredients Asia.
