KULIM, June 29 (Bernama) — The Kulim Technology Park Corporation on Tuesday launched “KHTP Innovation and Business Excellence Programme” (INNOBIZ 2010-2012) as a platform to assist companies in the Kulim High-Tech Park to develop faster.
The programme is also in line with the state government’s plan to help develop local innovative individuals and organisations based on knowledge and latest techonology, said state executive councillor for industries and investment Datuk Ir Amiruddin Hamzah.
He said small-and medium-sized business owners and entrepreneurs in the northern region will have easy access to more comprehensive business and technology programmes to elevate their business to a higher success level.
“The Innobiz programme ia a bold step to bring together a host of business owners and entrepreneurs to infuse in them the fast-changing demands of technologies,” he said.
The state government will strive to drive the economy upwards, empower entrepreneurs and SMEs, he said when launching the programme.
Earlier, Kulim Technology Park Corporation President Muhamad Sobri Osman said the programme will help develop entrepreneurs based on the pillars of knowledge and technology and to build a solid business network and value chain.
He said the seven components to be implemented throughout the programme are coaching and mentorship; industrial engineering manufacturing management and technology management; reverse engineering; incubator development and enhancement programme; vendor development programme for anchor companies; marketing programmes at local and international levels; robotics; and microelectronics).
Amiruddin also witnessed three MoU signing between KBioCorp and Universiti Sains Malaysia, Asian Institute for Medical Science and Technology (AIMST) and Orchid Life Sdn Bhd.
The MoU with USM is to develop and promote opportunities and R&D in the field of herbal and halal product analysis, technology and collaboration on training and commercialisation on R&D while AIMST will help in R&D related to biotechnology and manpower training.
Muhamad Sobri signed on behalf of KBioCorp while USM was represented by Deputy Vice-Chancellor Prof Lim Koon Ong while Orchid Life by its Corporate Group General manager Abdul Razak Mat Isa.
