Brazil is an important producer of halal meat. Now the country wants to be active in other halal areas such as cosmetics, fashion and tourism.

“The global halal market could reach the size of $3.2 trillion by 2024, and halal products can be consumed by over two billion people around the world today,” said Chamber President Rubens Hannun in an Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce webinar. Hannun predicted that Covid-19 will further strengthen the influence of Halal around the world.

Tomas Guerrero, head of the Brazilian Halal Trade and Marketing Center (HTMC), said the rise of halal is supported by population growth and an emerging middle class in Islamic countries. Despite the global impact of Covid-19 on the world economy, the halal market remains resilient, just as it was in the midst of the 2008 financial crisis, and continues to offer great business opportunities around the world, particularly in Europe and Latin America.

Guerrero reported that Brazil is one of the leading producers of halal meat, especially beef and poultry. The South American country has the potential to offer other types of halal products besides food, such as cosmetics, fashion and tourism.
