Bandar Seri Begawan – Growing in popularity down the years, Australian products have made their way to the households of Brunei winnings and hearts and the minds of the consumers who continue to place their trust on the products, which are well known for high quality and the variety they offer.
Mr Mark Sawers, the Australian High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam highlighted the popularity of Australian products during the launch of the Supa Save’s Australian Food Fair yesterday.
The High Commissioner said, “Australian products are doing very well in Brunei Darussalam and is gaining popularity. In fact, when I went around Brunei, many people spoke about Australia Products. And it gave me a sense that Australian Products are very safe and of high quality. People trust the products.
“In addition, I also think that one of the great things about Australia is that it has been a huge migration country, which has generated an enormous range of food products originating in Australia. We have products that are Italian or Greek and Asian products besides a range of tropical fruits.”
Reassuring Australian products are Halal certified, Mr Sawers said, a lot of Australian companies have already obtained Halal certification and we have been working very closely with the Brunei Government on their Halal’s initiative. And I feel that if the Brunei’s Initiative gets going, Australian companies may be interested in working with Brunei in terms of joint Halal products.”
He pointed out that many Australian products sold in Brunei have Halal certification either from regional or Middle East Halal institutions.
Mr Mark Sawers also praised Supa Save for its initiative in hosting the Australian Products Fair each year, which helps to display Australian products here in Brunei Darussalam.
On hand to receive the Australian High Commissioner was Mr. K.Y. Lim the General Manager of Ben Foods (B) Sdn Bhd and other officials.
The Australian High Commissioner also took a closer look at the many Australian Products available during a tour and also sampled some of the products.
