PUNJAB Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said the Punjab is rich in natural resources and there are vast opportunities of investment in various sectors.
The CM was addressing a meeting held to review the prospects of cooperation between Punjab and Turkey on Saturday.
The CM said the government was implementing a comprehensive strategy for promotion of local and foreign investment and all out facilities were being offered to investors. He said special attention was also being paid on promotion of public-private partnership in the province.
He said the government was taking steps to create a favourable investment climate and provision of facilities to investors in the province and the Punjab Investment Board has also been set up for this purpose. He said that there were vast opportunities of foreign investment in agriculture, livestock, energy, education in Punjab and agreements had been signed with China, Malaysia and Iran in this regard. He said that Punjab could earn huge foreign exchange by exporting Halal meat and agri products to Middle East and other countries. He said a modern meat processing plant could be set up by utilizing latest technology. He said that the goal of rapid progress of the country could be achieved through equipping the youth with skills and the TEVTA had been re-activated for this purpose. He said that syllabus of vocational institutions had been harmonised with the demands of the modern age.
The CM said that all projects of investment will be completed in a transparent manner on the pattern of IT labs project which has been executed with the cooperation of international companies.
He said that security situation in the country had adversely affected the process of foreign investment like other sectors but there was a need to develop local resources and increase exports through promotion of public-private partnership.
The CM said that Turkey was a brotherly country and there were deep- rooted historical and cultural ties between the two countries.
He said that Turkey had made remarkable progress in various sectors and Punjab could benefit from its expertise for the uplift of various sectors in the province.
