KARACHI: Federal Minister for Commerce, Makhdoom Amin Fahim will open the launching ceremony Global Halal Expo and Halal Congress 2010 at a local hotel on July 27, 2009.
Mr. Darhim Dali Hashim, CEO of IHIA (International Halal Integrity Alliance), a prominent scholar on Halal trade, is also arriving from Malaysia to deliver a brief note on importance of global Halal Standards and Certification.
The global Halal market is estimated to be worth US$2 trillion annually, which includes full range of food products, cosmetics, toiletries, heath care products, finance and supply chain services.
Despite such a huge potential and an existing demand from over a billion customers, it is still a virgin market for Pakistan with no awareness about this tremendous opportunity and its broad spectrum.
In view of the complete lack of awareness about the concept of Halal and its dimensions, the launching ceremony of these mega events, is being held on a grand scale to create some awareness about the global Halal market and potential for Pakistan.
Makhdoom Amin Fahim, Federal Minister of Commerce will be presiding over the ceremony. Other relevant federal and provincial ministers are also being invited along with international Halal experts from Malaysia and Hong Kong.
There will be a presentation about some astonishing facts and figures regarding the huge potential of world Halal market followed by minister’s speech during the ceremony.
