Putrajaya, 11 July 2014 – The Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) has decided to continue their collaborative efforts with DagangHalal Berhad (DHB) with regards to the database services of “Halal Verified Engine” (HVE) due to the overwhelming response from public users and companies that are interested in applying for Halal certification. Incorporating Microsoft cloud technology, HVE was created to simplify the Halal certificate application and renewal process by allowing applicants to search, view, and download genuine Halal certificates of products and ingredients in the supply chain as well as utilize HVE’s extensive database to source for alternative suppliers that are Halal certified.
Aside from JAKIM’s own database, HVE also provides Halal Certificates from 21 registered international certification bodies, which will increase to 30 by the end of this year. The international certification bodies are recognized by JAKIM, and include CICOT (Thailand), The Halal Food Council of Europe (HFCE), and The Federation of Islamic Associations of New Zealand (FIANZ). Since its launch in December 2013, the number of HVE users has been increasing rapidly. HVE applications can also be downloaded on smartphones, and will help users to identify the Halal status of products, ingredients, and restaurants easily.
The MOA signing ceremony was attended by Director General of JAKIM, Dato’ Haji Othman Mustapa, Deputy Director General of JAKIM, Haji Mohamad Nordin Ibrahim, Director of Halal Hub, Hakimah bt Mohd Yusoff, Chairman of DagangHalal Berhad, Tuan Haji Muhadzir Md Isa, Group CEO, Mohamed Hazli Mohd Hussain and CEO, Khairil Ismahafiz Muhadzir.
